Report from Lee O'Keefe, Car 95
The season came round very
quickly in the end with a new paint job just days before
the first meeting. I must say the car looked very smart.
Not the start to the season I wanted but a big thanks goes
to my guys, Scott, Lee, and Chris, who worked hard on the
car all weekend and thanks to some of the Revolution guys
who helped during Saturday night and into Sunday morning
to get the car set up somewhere near to what it was before
the rookie training crash.
Some people may not be aware that my car was used by some
of the rookies to take there test in April 2007 and it had
a "coming together" with the concrete wall during the Saturday
session. This meant me borrowing an axle and some other parts
from Revolution Racing.
At practice on Saturday in the first session the car was
playing about giving me mixed feed back. My crew called me
in and we found that the bearings had broken in the borrowed
rear axle. We had to replace the whole axle with another
one, and we went out for qualifying just in time. The car
was still not performing correctly but I managed to complete
a lap at 37.4, not too bad considering we had no time to
complete the set up and measurements.
The team did a superb job just to get it there for qualifying
which certainly pleased me. The car was worked on during
Saturday and in Sunday's race we were struggling all day
in both races with a very pushy car, but all said and done
my crew, did as well as we could in the circumstances
even though we did not have the right axle in and time to
set the car up properly.
We still managed a 6th place and a 5th and we believe we
can only get better in June.
Thank you for all your support, we hope you enjoyed the
first 2 rounds of the V8 Trophy series in 2007.
See you in June!
Lee O'Keefe
